WHAT TO EXPECT

A full-day tour of Cebu offers the unique opportunity to explore the island’s rich cultural heritage by visiting some of its most iconic historical sites. The morning begins at Fort San Pedro for scenic city views and colonial history lessons, followed by the Heritage of Cebu Monument paying tribute to notable figures. Guests can then enjoy lunch before checking out the opulent Yap San Diego Ancestral House. In the afternoon, a visit to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño gives a glimpse at the original Sto. Niño image and cultural experience. As evening approaches, the tour heads to highland gardens like Sirao Garden, Temple of Leah and Taoist Temple in Little Kyoto for fresh air and scenic landscapes from above.

DESTINATIONS

THE TAOIST TEMPLE

The Taoist Temple in Cebu is one of the oldest religious structures in the city. Built in the 13th century, it serves the Chinese community with its intricate architecture and shrines. Located in the hills above Cebu City, the temple complex features traditional Chinese designs like green-tiled roofs and colorful decorative screens. It contains several prayer halls dedicated to deities like Guan Gong and Tian Hou.

FORT SAN PEDRO

Fort San Pedro is a historical fort located in Cebu City, Cebu. It was constructed in 1565 by Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and is considered the oldest surviving stone fort in the Philippines. Situated along Cebu’s shores, the fort played a key defensive role when the Spaniards established their rule in the islands. Its thick stone walls and watchtowers protected the emerging colonial settlement from invaders. Today, Fort San Pedro has been converted into a park and serves as an iconic landmark celebrating Cebu’s historical importance.

MAGELLAN CROSS

Magellan’s Cross stands within the grounds of Cebu’s Basilica Minore del Santo Niño marking the exact spot where Ferdinand Magellan erected the first cross and conducted the first Catholic mass in the Philippines in 1521, commemorating his successful conversion of Rajah Humabon and around 800 Cebuanos to Christianity. The stone cross replaces the original wooden one erected by Magellan over 300 years ago to commemorate this pivotal event in Philippine religious history and the onset of Spanish colonization.

BASILICA MINORE DEL SANTO NINO DE CEBU

The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño in Cebu City houses the miraculous statue of the Holy Child Jesus or Santo Niño that was discovered aboard Magellan’s ship in 1521 and sparked the spread of Christianity in the Philippines. As the oldest church in the country built in 1565 and featuring beautiful Baroque architecture, it receives millions of pilgrims annually who come to venerate Santo Niño, the patron saint of Cebu and the Philippines.

YAP-SAN DIEGO ANCESTRAL HOUSE & CASA GORORDO

Stepping into the ancestral homes of Yap-San Diego and Gorordo transports visitors back to colonial Cebu. Intricate carvings and gleaming mahogany introduce the Chinese-inspired world of privileged clans within Yap-San Diego’s airy balconies and courtyards. Nearby, Casa Gorordo impresses with soaring ceilings and European-Asian fusion on display. Wandering hushed halls lined with portraits and heirlooms, one envisionsthe lavish yet integrated lifestyle led by Cebu’s elite under Spanish rule.

CEBU HERITAGE MONUMENT

The Heritage of Cebu Monument, located on the original Plaza Parian, commemorates key and symbolic events in Cebu’s history, from Rajah Humabon’s period to the recent beautification of Cebuano martyr Pedro Calungsod. Edgardo Castrillo, a national artist, created the colossal sculptural tableau.

TABOAN PUBLIC MARKET

Taboan Market, considered Cebu’s ultimate pasalubong center and local market, is one of Cebu City’s busiest and most congested markets.

MACTAN SHRINE

Situated on Mactan Island where the famous Battle of Mactan occurred, the Mactan Shrine commemorates Lapu-Lapu and his warriors’ victory over Ferdinand Magellan in 1521 by featuring a monument depicting the first Filipino hero raising his bolo against the foreign invaders to protect his people and their independence.

SIRAO GARDEN (Little Amsterdam of Cebu)

This flower farm in Barangay Sirao is evocative of Amsterdam, with all sorts of flowers neatly arranged and in various colors. As a result, it was dubbed “Little Amsterdam of Cebu.” Instead of tulips, the garden’s main attraction is celosia flowers, cockscombs, or wool flowers.

SACHIKO’s LITTLE KYOTO

Sachiko’s Little Kyoto has the atmosphere and feel of Japan, thanks to its man-made structures and traditions, which you can freely experience here! This location is ideal for anyone seeking a new adventure because it is so distinct from the traditions of our home country, the Philippines.

TEMPLE OF LEAH

Many refer to the temple as the “Taj Mahal” of Cebu since it also serves as a tomb for a profound love that endures even after death. Teodorico Soriano Adarna commissioned the construction of the Temple of Leah in memory of his late wife, Leah Albino-Adarna. Their marriage lasted over five decades.
